Fury at Daniel food snub

Jun 29 2003

By Charlotte Ward, Sunday Mercury

Pop hunk Daniel Bedingfield left fans at a special gig fuming after he snubbed a delicious food spread they had laid on for him - and ordered a pizza instead!

Staff at Cadbury’s in Birmingham won a Galaxy 102.2 radio competition for a live performance from the heart-throb at their workplace.

Around 100 employees at the chocolate headquarters in Bournville turned up to enjoy the private gig on Friday morning.

But after wowing fans with a four-song set, Daniel turned his nose up at a buffet lunch and disappeared into a side room to order a pizza.

One annoyed fan told the Sunday Mercury: “The gig was really good but Daniel upset a few people.

“We had laid on a real feast with wine, sandwiches, sausage rolls and fresh fruit but he took one look at it and disappeared into another room.

“Then a pizza delivery man turned up! It was obvious that all the lovely food we’d organised just wasn’t good enough for him!

“It seemed a bit ungrateful and insulting.”

After the performance Daniel headed to radio station BRMB’s headquarters in Broad Street, Birmingham, where he was interviewed by DJ’s Tammy and Ricardo.

• Fans can catch Daniel at the BRMB Party In The Park at Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham, this Saturday.
