Custard on Sundays is a bargain!

Sep 6 2007

By Emma Cullwick, Birmingham Mail

BARGAIN hunters are in for a treat with the launch of a flea market in Birmingham.

The new market runs every Sunday at The Custard Factory, in Gibb Street, Digbeth.

It specialises in vintage clothes and jewellery, as well as art, literature and collectors' items and will be an echo of London's fashionable Camden Lock markets.

Shoppers will be able to tuck into fresh and organic food sold from stalls as musicians perform live.

"The market is a new opportunity to shop for those rare and magical items that will never be found on a High Street," said a spokesman.

"Stalls range from the bizarre to the truly wonderful. Japanese baby clothes, vintage and handmade garments, rare records, original photography and art, crepe suzette, pottery, kitsch collectables and homemade fudge are a small taste of what's available."

The spokesman added: "It's a place where the fantastic and creative can show themselves and their wares, and where Birmingham residents can be exposed to something truly unique.

"It's accessible to all, friendly, creative, colourful and eyeopening. It's a great atmosphere and a good day out whether you are buying or just soaking it all up."

There is also a club for youngsters where parents can leave their children with professional child minders while they go browsing around the stalls in the flea market.

The club includes activities such as making collages, face-painting and cake baking.

Free parking is available for the market, and organisers have closed off the road to ensure the safety of the public.

For more information about the market, which runs from 11am until 4pm every Sunday, call 07792 966 572 or 0121 224 7777.
