That's one big bunny!

Jul 15 2004

Annette and Roberto

You've heard of Bugs Bunny - but here is one rabbit worthy of the title Big Bunny!

Roberto, the two-year-old Continental Giant from Holland, weighs in at a massive two-and-a-half stone and is believed by his owner, mother-of-ten Annette Edwards, to be the longest in the world.

But despite his three-and-a-half foot length, the bumper bunny is unlikely ever to earn a place in the record books.

Former Bromsgrove model Annette, 52, who owns Bunnyland shop in Worcester, said: "Staff at the Guinness Book of Records have said they're not promoting any more animals because of the possibility of people over-feeding their pets.

"His size often surprises visitors and I am still surprised because he is more like a dog than a rabbit."

Every day, Roberto manages to munch his way through two bowls of dried rabbit food, a small cabbage, hay and up to four carrots as well as the odd apple.

The food bill works out at a cost of £9 each week, compared to £2 for the average household pet rabbit.

Annette said: "He is absolutely amazing. He is just like a big cuddly bear and you can do anything with him."
