Feeling a bit ruff

Josephine Wright

Housewife Josephine Wright gave friends and family paws for thought when she decided to take up a dog psychology course.

But now her expert canine analysis is proving a massive success with despairing owners of misbehaving pooches, saving some dogs from being put down.

The 28-year-old mother-of-one felt useless sitting at her home in Blackrock Road, Wyrley Birch, until she embarked on the year-long course.

"I learned all about dog behaviour and it has become really useful in training them," said Josephine, who offers her services free of charge.

"I have dealt with all sorts of cases. There was an aggressive dog who would never go out the house or let anyone near him He had been treated badly and I analysed his behaviour and realised he was scared.

"So day by day, I encouraged the owner to take him just a few paces away from home at a time until he could deal with it. Now they are playing in the park together."

Josephine, who practised on her own German Shepherd dog, Saffron, has already helped 30 dog owners and added: "I do this because I don't want to see dogs put away in a home.

"Some people may think I am barking but it's given me more meaning in life and I feel really useful."

But Josephine, who grew up in Tyburn Road, Pype Hayes and went to St Edmund Campion School in Erdington, had to put her dog psychology aside when 38-year-old husband Danny suffered from a sudden heart attack last year.

However, he is now starting to make a good recovery and Jose-phine's canine shrink practice is back up and running.

Anyone who needs help with their dogs should contact Josephine on 07963 895648.
