Roll back the years!

Nov 12 2004

By Andy Coleman, Evening Mail

Teenybop mania is set to return to Birmingham when four of the biggest acts of the 70s take to the stage.

The Osmonds, David Cassidy, David Essex and Les McK-eown's 70s Bay City Rollers will perform at the NEC Arena next June 24, as part of the Once In A Lifetime Tour 2005.

The Osmonds line-up will feature Wayne, Merrill, Jay and Jimmy.

Speaking from Branson, Missouri, where he runs two variety theatres, 41-year-old Jimmy Osmond said today: "It's really exciting getting so many nostalgic acts together.

"We're looking forward to performing our hits, some of which we haven't done for years. It's going to be great fun."

Donny Osmond will not be with his brothers, as he is concentrating on his solo career.

"We're still close to Donny and we hear about how well he's doing in the UK," said Jimmy.

He added that he was especially looking forward to being

in the Midlands again.

"I went to Warwick Castle to see Donny's concert and it was a really beautiful place.

"When we toured Britain in the 1970s we couldn't enjoy the country because it was always so crazy.

"Next year I'm hoping to take an extended holiday in the UK with my family - I have two boys and two girls, aged between two and 10."

As Little Jimmy Osmond, aged nine, he had a No.1 hit with Long Haired Lover From Liverpool, but he is unsure if it will be on the setlist at the NEC.

"I performed a contemporary version of it in Boogie Nights and the crowd went crazy. Everybody knows it.

"I may do it during next year's tour - perhaps after every-body's gone home!" * Tickets for the Once In A Lifetime Tour are on sale now, priced £36.50 plus booking and transaction fee. To book phone 0870 909 4133.
