Hitler cartoons sold at auction

A book of cartoons lampooning Adolf Hitler which were commended by the dictator have sold at auction for more than £200.
The volume, containing cartoons from newspapers and magazines from across the world, was published in Germany in 1933 after being passed by Hitler himself.
Some of the cartoons poke fun at Hitler but others show him as the angel of death and as a red Indian with a head on a pole.
It was bought by a telephone bidder for £207 at a specialist auction of historical documents, autographs and ephemera in Ludlow, Shropshire, yesterday after being put up for sale by a private collector.
Richard Westwood-Brookes, documents expert for Shropshire auctioneers Mullock Madeley, said the item attract significant interest because it was officially commended by Hitler, who wrote a foreword.
