Dad fined over robbery claim

A FATHER-of-three who claims he was robbed at gunpoint has been hit with an £80 fine - after police accused him of making the crime up. Lee Jones, of Yardley Close, Oldbury, swore on his children's life that he was violently mugged in Bearwood Road, Bearwood. But officers who interviewed him said there were contradictions in his story, thought he was lying and issued him with an £80 fixed-penalty ticket for wasting police time. Now furious Mr Jones, aged 36, is taking legal advice and plans to appeal. He insisted today he was robbed of £190 when he was attacked at about 2pm on Monday.
