Local historian dies

A TIPTON historian who was awarded the MBE last year for preserving Black Country heritage has died after a suspected heart attack while out walking.

John Brimble died at the weekend after being taken ill in Victoria Park, Tipton.

Mr Brimble, who was 65, was a leading light in setting up the Black Country Living Museum.

He was also a founder member and leading official of the Black Country Society and a founder member of both the Tipton Civic Society and the town's Heritage Centre.

Mr Brimble leaves a widow, Doreen, two children and a granddaughter. His funeral is at 2.30 pm on Monday at St Matthew's
