Parents will be offered a chance to protect their children with individual measles and mumps jabs this weekend
A private clinic is coming to the West Midlands for parents concerned over the safety of the triple MMR jab and its links to autism and bowel disease.
Campaigner Jonathan Harris, of Sheldon, whose sons Thomas, aged 13, and Oliver, nine, showed signs of autism after having the MMR injection, welcomed the opportunity for parents to have a choice.
"This is great news for parents," said Mr Harris, aged 45, who provides a network of support with his wife Kaye for Autism West Midlands.
"Over the past five years, the take-up of the individual measles vaccine has gone up 1,000 per cent and private companies are struggling to keep up with demand.
"This shows that lots of people are not taking the chance on MMR, but are still being responsible."
Healthchoice UK holds clinics at Heath Lane Consulting Rooms, in Heath Lane, Stour-bridge, on Saturday and Sunday.
Parents who refuse to go along with the Government's recommended MMR injection pay £90 each for individual measles or rubella injections and £140 for a mumps jab.
Kathryn Durnford, managing director of Healthchoice UK, said: "While there are still fears on the safety of the triple MMR jab, it is important that parents have the choice of single vaccines."
