West Midland parents worried about the triple MMR jab are ignoring Government advice and paying up to £300 for individual vaccinations for their children to get them protected against measles, mumps and rubella.
A private clinic is doing a booming trade in offering individual vaccinations against the diseases.
Since Kent-based Healthchoice UK started running immunisation sessions in Stourbridge, it has been inundated with bookings.
Parents worried about the triple MMR jab and its alleged links to autism are paying £80 each for the measles and rubella injections and £140 for immunisation against mumps.
Kathryn Durnford, Healthchoice director, said it had run four clinics in the Heath Lane Consulting Rooms in Stourbridge and was looking for a suitable location in Birmingham. So far it had immunised between 1,500 and 2,000 children.
Children have the three jabs separately, with three months between each one, instead of having them done all in one go - free of charge - at their GPs surgery.
Mrs Durnford, a mother herself, defended the cost.
There is a huge demand and the drugs companies have increased the charges for the serums, she said.
Parents have to go private because single jabs are not available on the NHS and that is unfair.
Dee Mallon and her building contractor husband Donald, who are both 41, from Earlswood, had threeyearold daughter Evelyn vaccinated with single jabs and are doing the same with son Rory, 21 months.
If something isnt 100 per cent certain and something like this is available then Ill go with it every time, said housewife Dee (pictured with Rory).
Ill make sure my children are not subjected to any risk. Money isnt an issue, but even if it was, single jabs give you peace of mind.
