THREE woman have been charged with manslaughter over the death of a baby boy in a Midland nursery tragedy.
West Mercia Police said the women had been bailed to appear at Redditch Magistrates Court on June 28 following an incident in Bromsgrove on March 29 last year.
Seven-month-old Cameron Lindsay, from Stoke Heath, in Bromsgrove, died after his head became wedged between the seat and hood of a baby bouncer at the Sticky Fingers nursery in the Rock Hill area of the town.
The nursery was owned by Dawn Wilson, wife of Terence 'Astro' Wilson, a member of Birmingham reggae pop band UB40.
The nursery was closed after the incident and the Highfield Road building has now reopened as a family centre with new staff and management.
Mrs Wilson said after the incident that the death was "a tragic accident." Police spokeswoman Julie Wedgbury said the women who had been charged would not be identified before the court appearance.
Worcestershire Coroner Victor Round was told at an inquest opening that Cameron had been taken to the nursery by his mother, Debra.
The baby was found with his head wedged between the seat and hood of the bouncer. He was taken to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch then transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital but died the following day. A postmortem revealed he died from asphyxia.
Trading Standards officers in Dudley later imposed a product suspension notice on the Rock'n'Carry bouncer.
