Birmingham MP Gisela Stuart is supporting a campaign to construct a permanent memorial to the 67 British citizens who died in terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.
Ms Stuart (Lab, Edgbaston) has joined MPs from across the political spectrum to support the launch of the British Memorial Garden Trust.
This will raise funds for the creation of a memorial garden in New York's Hanover Square. The garden has been designed by British architects Julian and Isabel Bannerman as a place for reflection, recreation and as a focal point for Remembrance Day.
The initiative is backed by the New York City government.
Ms Stuart said: "We should never forget September 11 and the bravery of those people of all nationalities who perished on that dreadful day."
