Celebs hit the jungle

Nov 20 2004

A rubber ring, pillow, hairbrush and a pair of sunglasses are just a few of the luxury items the I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! contestants are taking into the jungle, it was revealed today. The 10 personalities made the choices on the eve of being sent to their camp at Murwillumbah near Brisbane on Australia’s east coast.

Most have chosen practical items to make their stay in the jungle as relaxing as possible, apart from actor Antonio Fargas who opted for style over comfort.

The 58-year-old American, who played the iconic character Huggy Bear in the US TV cop show Starsky and Hutch, said: “I’m bringing a selection of sunglasses to Oz and will choose my favourite pair just before going into the jungle.”

Diana, Princess of Wales’s former butler Paul Burrell is more concerned about having something soft to sit on and opted for the inflatable rubber ring.

“I’m hoping there’s going to be some water we can use it in. Or maybe to sit in it around the campfire, it may be comfortable to use as a chair. It’s enormous actually,” he said.

Former East 17 bad boy Brian Harvey has chosen a cap, comic Vic Reeves’s wife Nancy Sorrell picked tinted moisturiser, while Gossard model and reformed drug addict Sophie Anderton has taken a photo of herself and boyfriend, nightclub boss Mark Alexiou.

Early favourites to win the show were glamour girls Sorrell, Anderton and Appleton, but the bookies are now backing the high-pitched comic Pasquale to be crowned king of the jungle.
