Campaigners fighting a motorway service station in a leafy Midland village have challenged John Prescott to visit before deciding their fate.
Villagers in picturesque Catherine-de-Barnes, Solihull, have been battling for more than two years and are awaiting the Deputy Prime Minister 7's decision after pubic consultation closes in March.
Sited between Junctions Five and Six of the M42, it would take up 65 acres of green belt land which currently includes an ancient woodland and a Grade ll listed farmhouse.
The service area would also be in the middle of the public safety zone beyond the proposed second runway at Birmingham Airport.
Campaigner Maggie Throup, of Hampton Lane, Catherine-de-Barnes, said: "When the interim decision was made we asked Mr Prescott to come and see the damage it would do but he didn't.
"We want to invite him again to see how inappropriate the station would be - he can't make this decision from the comfort of his office in Whitehall.
"We have been ignored time and time again."
Meriden Tory MP Caroline Spelman said: "This has got to be a clear safety risk. It is hard to imagine a less suitable location for a motorway service station.
"I will be making strong representations to all the relevant departments."
A spokeswoman for Mr Prescott said: "A final decision will need to take account of all relevant material considerations, including any outstanding listed building issues and any new circumstances that may have arisen since the inquiry."
