Families in a Birmingham road were being quizzed by police today over the final hours of a man found dead in a layby in Staffordshire.
Detectives making house-to-house calls in Finnemore Road, Bordesley Green, were trying to discover if anyone saw 27-year-old Imran Ali drive off to his death.
His body was discovered in his Vauxhall Astra in a layby on the southbound carriageway of the A38 at Weeford, near Lichfield, at 5.30pm on February 24.
Police said the body could have been there for up to three days.
Appeal posters will go up in the layby on Monday urging any drivers who stopped there in the few days before the body was found to come forward.
West Midlands detectives were trying to discover if families in Finnemore Road saw Mr Ali drive off on the night of February 21 or the early hours of the following morning.
A post-mortem failed to come up with the cause of Mr Ali's death.
"Detectives are treating the death as unexplained as they await the results of further tests," a Staffordshire police spokesman said.
"We hope that anyone who stopped in the layby in the few days before Mr Ali was found will come forward and help us to build up a more accurate picture of when he got there. We also want to hear from anyone who may have seen him elsewhere."
