A Worcestershire policeman cleared of allegations that he assaulted his wife will remain suspended for the time being, according to his force.
West Mercia Constabulary said it has yet to complete an internal inquiry launched after 49-year-old Mark Willis was charged with three counts of common assault.
The case against Mr Willis, of Little Witley, near Worcester, was dropped at Gloucester Magistrates' Court yesterday when the Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence.
Mr Willis had pleaded not guilty to the offences and has been suspended since the allegations surfaced last November.
