I think it will need someone like Randy Lerner to take over Aston for them to make the step up to the BBL. The current directors have no such ambitions and have publicly stated that they will never pay any of their players to play. Do Aston Villa still own the Aston Events Centre? One of the board of directors (Robert Kain) has a son who's previously played the game professionally in this country for the Sheffield Arrows so maybe they could build the franchise around him? Just a thought.
