Cunningham vow to fans

Oct 27 2004

Blues skipper Kenny Cunningham today promised not to let music interfere with his football career.

The Dublin-born stopper is set to launch a new album with Irish rockers U2.

But Cunningham (pictured in concert) - who performs under stage name The Edge - said his heart was still at St Andrew's.

"Obviously there's been a bit of juggling going on to get everything done," said The Edge, in an interview made up by Row Z today.

"But the music's a hobby - football's my life.

"At the moment we're getting ready to promote our latest record but, if selected, I'm ready to do a job for Blues."

Cunningham (pictured on Republic of Ireland duty) admitted his dual lifestyle had caused him a few headaches.

"It's caused me a few headaches," admitted Cunningham/The Edge. "In one ear I'll have Steve Bruce saying 'Kenny, what're we going to do about Thierry Henry?' and in the other I'll have Bono saying, 'Edge, what're we going to about third world debt?'

"The gaffer does get a bit flustered when I have to download guitar tracks at half-time."

"But I wouldn't change a thing - well, I'd maybe have asked the Larry, Bono and Adam if they really thought the Zoo TV tour was such a great idea - but apart from that, I wouldn't change a thing."
