Tom Grumble Column

Tom Grumble

Hello Grumblers,

Bob Geldof once said 'Tell me why I don't like Mondays?'.

Well I can tell him why I don't like them. Because I have to talk about chuffin' football, and not just any football, but bad football.

I went to The Hawthorns on Saturday, and to be honest I chose right, it was probably the best game around. And this had nothing to do with football.

I saw the future today, amd I shall be ringing Don King to tell him that Andy Cole could be the next Sugar Ray Leonard.

That boy can sure swing a punch. Shame he is paid to play football.

Anyway, it was a shambles of a game, three red-cards, a keeper virtually standing in front of the penalty taker. Handbags, gladrags and all round petulence.

Albion sneaked a draw, but if had it my way I would have sent both teams to boot-camp for two weeks. Bunch of girls. Good point for the Baggies mind.

Villa drew 0-0 with Norwich in a game that doesn't deserve a mention.

...

Blues were held by Charlton at St Andrews, it was Charlton's first away point of the season. Blues will be giving away a lot more points if they carry on playing like this.

Steve Bruce's team might now realise that they are not the best thing since creation.

The reason they have done so well the past couple of seasons is that they fought tooth and nail for each other and were the underdogs.

The expectations have now been raised - but Blues haven't matched them. Mid-table come the end of the season. At best.

Wolves won again on the coast and Walsall lost to Chesterfield - who are almost as pointless as they are. Actually that's a bit harsh. Chesterfield aren't that bad.
