COACH CARTER (12A ) is a typical Hollywood movie about a teacher tackling wayward youngsters.
But enough groaning. Samuel L Jackson is back at his irresistible best, quickly turning this from a seen-it-all-before basketball movie into a tour-de-force.
As real life Coach Ken Carter he believes in wearing a ridiculous number of stunning suits as well as disciplining kids to keep them from a life of crime.
Directed by Thomas Carter (Metro), the gun scene is as regrettable as it is perhaps inevitable.
But, despite running rather long at 136 minutes, I enjoyed this so much I felt like doing a few 'suicides' myself.
