IN THE LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU (15), Team Zissou is a crew of unruly misfits led by Steve Zissou, an ageing aquatic explorer facing a mid-life crisis, writes Ellie Lovell.
Zissou (Bill Murray) is a shadow of his former self. His latest documentary sees best friend Esteban eaten by a shark so, eager to avenge his death, he embarks on his next adventure.
New recruit Ned Plimpton (Owen Wilson) claims to be Zissou's son from a previous fling and is welcomed aboard but their relationship isn't an easy one as they fight for the affections of an English journal-ist (Cate Blanchett).
Abandoned by wife Eleanor (Anjelica Houston), and without his best friend, Zissou continues in the face of adversity despite attacks from Filipino pirates.
The result is a 118-minute quirky comedy not to be missed, with the soundtrack including acoustic performances of David Bowie hits sung in Portuguese by Team Zissou's musician, Pele.
The role of Zissou is perfect for Bill Murray, and it is not only The Life Aquatic that Murray, Wilson and director Wes Anderson have in common. They all share the credit for The Bottle Rocket, Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums.
