THEIR debut album, Hot Fuss, is No.1 in the UK charts this week but if you really want to hear The Killers at their best, you should see them live.
"I think we are a whole different thing live than on record," reckons bass player Mark Stoermer. "We bring a whole load of energy and we definitely try to make every performance something special."
While their first headline appearance at Birmingham's
Academy in May 2004 failed to match the promise of their then unreleased album, months of touring has certainly sharpened the band.
"We're getting better and better right now, we've had a year of touring and it gets really exciting playing these shows," says Mark. "We're more raw, more brutal, on stage now. When we connect with the audience and they connect with us amazing things happen."
Nominated for three US Grammy Awards the band - vocalist Brandon Flowers, guitarist David Keuning,
drummer Ronnie Vannucci and bassist Stoermer, who came together in Nevada in 2002 - have recently finished an American tour with Franz Ferdinand, Keane, Snow Patrol and Modest Mouse.
They're now proud to be part of the impressive NME package, with The Futureheads, Bloc Party and Kaiser Chiefs.
"It's so cool that we're on this tour and the fact that we're the headlining band makes it even cooler. We're really looking forward to it and we're going to make it a show to remember!"
