Donald Sinden and Alan Howard have stepped in to fill the breach left by the cancellation of Vanessa Redgrave's Hecuba for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
The duo will be performing The Hollow Crown at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon for a fortnight next month. The Hollow Crown was devised in 1961 by John Barton for the RSC as a celebratory entertainment by and about the Kings and Queens of England.
From the events of 1066 to Queen Victoria's solemn description of her own coronation, The Hollow Crown aims to present the human face of the monarchy.
It went on to become one of the RSC's most successful productions with more than 70 actors having performed in it at different times.
* The Hollow Crown will be on stage in Stratford from March 3-19.
