Birmingham is set to play host to dance music legend Jazzie B when Bish Bash unveils their new venue in the latest of their hugely popular club nights.
Bish Bash returns on Sat Sep 23 with Soul II Soul legend and Funki-Dred star Jazzie B touching down at brand new 400 capacity basement club Cocoon for a super rare gig injecting a musical energy and motivation to the highest level of dance-floor expression.
Today, Jazzie B remains true to the spirit of Soul II Soul, spinning soul, funk, boogie, hip-hop, house, and whatever else takes his fancy – bringing good vibes to some of the world’s best venues.
For the man who considers himself a ‘pleasure giver’, it’s paramount to Jazzie to remain a part of the club scene. “Being a sound system is very important to me, I still DJ in clubs. And the label is run like a sound system. It’s all exactly the same as before, except that the times have changed. Technically we are still a sound system. The singers and artists are our MCs, and instead of making mix tapes we now make records and CDs.”
Joining the fold will be Jigsawmusic’s Dave James, who recently played to 2,500 people at The Big Chill festival, DJs regularly throughout Europe and is resident at the award-winning Jigsawmusic night in Birmingham.
