Bonds' Books, one of Birmingham's few independent book shops, is celebrating its first birthday.
The shop, based at 97A High Street, Harborne, was opened by owner Sarah Bond a year ago, and although many independents have suffered due to price cuts and special offers by major chains such as Waterstones and Borders, Bonds' has thrived - to the extent where they have now been asked to supply the books for this year's Birmingham Books Festival.
To celebrate, a first birthday party will be held at the shop on Wednesday, October 6. Special guest will be author David Lodge, who will give a talk and sign copies of his new book Author, Author.
