The Evening Mail Birmingham Comedy Festival Open Mic' Finals gives brand new Midlands talent the opportunity to perform in the prestigeous Glee Club and also offers them a step up on the comedy ladder.
This year's Finals take place on Friday 10 October in the Glee's studio theatre and will see 2002's champ, Rupert Knutt, handing over the New Act of the Year title to a brand new name.
Those fighting for the title are Annette Fagan, Lloyd Langford, Alek Maxwell, Rachel Sambrook, Dan Smith and Lee Thompson.
Each act will get just a few minutes to make their impression in front of audiences and the judging panel in a nerve wrecking contest.
Open only to people from the region, 2001's runner up was none other than Shazia Mirza, who has since appeared on her own BBC TV programme, been interviewed by everyone from the Sunday Times to New York Times and played all over the world (including the Comedy Festival this year when she can be seen on Friday in the Comedy Big Top also on Friday 10 October).
Tickets for The Evening Mail Birmingham Comedy Festival Open Mic' Finals are £5 (phone) or £4 (online from www.glee.co.uk). Doors open at 7.30pm and show starts at 8.30pm.
