Rocking Avril to play NIA

Canadian singer-songwriter, Avril Lavigne will play the NIA, Birmingham on Monday 4 October.

Avril’s debut album Let Go garnered worldwide sales surpassing a phenomenal 14 million, achieving diamond record status (1 million) in her native Canada. The album was also confirmed as the third best album of 2002 in the UK charts, spawning hits amongst others I’m With You, Sk8er Boi and Complicated.

Avril’s follow up album, Under My Skin has already produced the Top 10 hit single Don’t Tell Me and is currently riding high in the UK chart.

Following the incredible success of four Here and Now tours, the popular show, which brings together the cream of the UK’s 80’s stars, returns to The NEC Arena, Birmingham on Saturday 11 December. 

Here & Now provides over three hours of sing along 80’s pop pleasure and this year, the show has several exclusives. 

Midge Ure, who headlines the show, will perform all of Ultravox’s hits, for the first time since they split.  Nik Kershaw will perform all his hits together in his set, for the first time since the 80’s.  Cheryl Baker will come out of retirement to be reunited with original Bucks Fizz members, Bobby Gee, Mike Nolan and Shelly Preston. Living In A Box will reform especially for this tour.

One of the favourite performers of Here & Now Tours, Kim Wilde, is back to belt out her classic hits Kids In America, Chequered Love, Cambodia, View From A Bridge, You Keep Me Hangin’ On, You Came, If I Can’t Have You, Never Trust A Stranger and more.

Fresh from appearing on Hell’s Kitchen, Belinda Carlisle will return for her second appearance on Here & Now.  Her set will include I Get Weak, Circle In The Sand, Leave A Light On, (We Want) The Same Thing, Live Your Life Be Free, and the almost worldwide No 1 Heaven Is A Place On Earth. 

Limahl, former lead singer of Kajagoogoo, will be performing a few of their hits along with his own No 4 hit, Never Ending Story, from the film of the same name.

A firm fixture on 10,000 people’s calendars across the UK, the annual Cliff Richard Tennis Classic returns to The NIA, Birmingham on Saturday 18 December for the 12th year running.

The Tennis Classic began 22 years ago and has annually entertained fans of Cliff’s music and tennis alike to an afternoon and evening of fun, sport and music.

This event raises much needed funds for Cliff’s tennis charity which helps introduce tennis to children all over the UK and really can change their lives physically, mentally, and socially.
