Lord of the films

By David Freak, icBirmingham

Birmingham cinemas reported "incredible" business today as the second Lord of the Rings films was released nationwide.

"We're completely sold out for two days," reported UGC Cinema, Broad Street, spokesperson Andy Fowles. "And we're showing it in four screens."

The Odeon, New Street, has also reported brisk business.

"It's mad! We're incredibly busy and it's getting busier throughout the day," said Odeon Marketing Co-ordinator Michael Mclean. "It looks like it will be the film of the year. It's incredible."

"We did have a few people queuing up for the first screening this morning - 10.20am - and people have been arriving constantly ever since. Many screenings today, tomorrow, Friday and the weekend are already sold out in advance."

UGC Cinema, Broad Street, reported that fans began queuing outside the venue before 9am this morning - over an hour and a half before the screening of Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

"We've been looking forward to this for a year," said Justin from Edgbaston. "It's going to be brilliant."
