Sarehole Mill, the scene of Tolkien's childhood and the source of inspiration for the Shire in The Lord of the Rings, will be open this Christmas.
The area in Hall Green, Birmingham, used to be a small rural hamlet when Tolkien lived there as a child.
The restored 19th century mill, which is now a museum managed by Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery, will be opening on Saturday December 27 and Sunday 28.
Increased public interest in the mill is expected.
