Ashford wins hotel contract

Apr 24 2008

Coleshill-based Ashford Construction has won a contract involving the construction of Birmingham's newest hotel.

It will form an integral part of the city's latest urban village at Newhall Square which is being developed by Ro St Bernards.

The £6 million contract forms the first major element of the regeneration project and includes the construction of a new 100-bed hotel for Travelodge, together with an attached five-storey office complex providing 10,850 sq ft of space.

The hotel is scheduled to open later this year. Newhall Square is a £65 million mixed use scheme that will incorporate up to 30,000 sq ft of offices and workshops, 11,000 sq ft of retail, restaurants and bars, together with 235 studios and apartments with underground car parking.

Andrew Glenn, associate director for Ash-ford, said: "We are delighted to be working with RO St Bernards on this highly important regeneration project and to be constructing the latest development involving Travelodge's continued expansion plans."
