Chart-toppers Sugababes are switching on Birmingham’s Christmas lights (Nov 10, Millennium Point, Bham, 3pm, free. Tel: 0121 202 5066).
The girl trio will be joined by spunky popsters McFly, X-Factor’s Leona Lewis, Scouting For Girls and BRMB jocks as part of a five hour free concert prior that concludes with the switch on (7.30pm) and accompanying festive firework display.
The girls recently scored a triple number one with new album Change and single About You Now, which topped both the singles and download charts. A new Sugababes single, the title track from the album, is released on December 17, and the girls head out on a UK tour in the spring, visiting Wolverhampton Civic Hall on March 28. Meanwhile, McFly play at NEC on November 30 to promote their ‘best of’.
Celebrations continue the following day with Diwali (Nov 11, Millennium Point, Bham). Expect music, fashion, dance and visual arts in a dynamic showcase of Hindu culture.
Meanwhile over in Wolverhampton, The Krankies and stars of the Grand Theatre’s panto, Dick Whittington, will be switching on Wolverhampton’s Christmas lights (Nov 14, Market Sq, Wolves, 5pm, free).
Other switch ons around the region include Tettenhall (Nov 16, 5pm), Bilston (Nov 17, Market Way Square, 4pm), Wednesfield (Nov 17, St. Thomas Church, 4pm) and Solihull (Nov 29).
