I have always had an excellent evening whenever I have been to the Ikon. The staff are very pleasant and the food simply divine and extremely good value for money. Eat your heart out La Tasca!
we ate here on a warm saint georges evening 2004 and were very impressed.
there is an almost chaotic element at work here which is lacking in many of the slick operaters in brindley place. the food is a revelation and fairly priced, two of us ate three courses ,with a bottle of decent wine, for less than £20 each.

I adore Cafe Ikon. If i am meeting friends this is the place i always suggest first. Good food, value for money and wonderful surrondings.

After high recommendations, we decided to try the seafood paella. However after a 50 minute wait (which was specified on the menu) the food was a little disappointing although nicely presented. As we waited for the paella, we had the calamari starter to share which we were unimpressed with and believe that we could have cooked something better at home. Good location, decor was funky and atmosphere was chilled but sadly the food failed to impress. Disappointed.
I love the food here it's always gorgeous and surroundings are very chilled. Sadly I'm always reluctant to go as the service is shocking! last night i asked three times for a glass of wine before it arrived - then when i got the bill i'd been charged for all three! food took an hour to appear and i had to ask for menus, drinks etc. fortunately the prawns are the best in brum! Go but give yourself plenty of time and patience...

My partner and I love this place, real tapas and reasonable prices. The wine is good and him in doors can't resist the superb meat collection and sherry as a the starter..leaving the wine for me. An excellent place for a good conversation, polite and attentive staff. love the place after a hard week!
