Young midfield star Andrew Surman wants to start next season with Walsall after helping them remove the spectre of relegation and become the most exciting team in League One.
He starred in the superb win at Hartlepool, scored a fine goal then said farewell to the fans and his team-mates.
However, the parting could be 'goodbye' for now but 'hello' in August if Southampton stay in the Premiership and their manager Harry Redknapp allows 18-year-old Surman to continue his soccer education at Bescot.
The classy teenager told me: "I would love to be here next season but we shall have to see what happens.
"In the past three or four weeks we have been brilliant and the team deserve all the credit they can get.
