It's coz we luv Slade!

Mar 20 2008

By Dale Williams, Birmingham Mail

FANS of glam legends Slade are being urged to don their flares, platforms and kipper ties and hit a top Black Country music venue on Sunday to "feel the noize".

The popular Robin 2 club in Bilston is holding its third annual Sladefest on Easter Sunday in honour of the Black Country's best loved rockers.

And hardcore Slade fans will this year get the chance to play guitar through an amplifier once owned by front man Noddy Holder.

One of the organisers said: "This year brings a unique opportunity to play guitar through an original Noddy amp.

"Whether a guitarist or not, everyone is welcome to have a go. The amp will be set up exactly as Noddy used to have it, loud, and its current owner will be on hand to answer any questions there may be about it."

The fun starts at noon with a Slade DJ spinning some of the band's biggest hits.

The day culminates with three sets of live music from the UK's foremost Slade tribute band, Flamin' Slade, in the evening.

There also promises to be plenty to do throughout the day with a Slade-related quiz, DVDs of the band being shown, an acoustic set and poet Paul Cookson with a host of Sladethemed poems.

Wearing 70s garb will be the order of the day and there is a prize for the best dressed guy and girl getting into the spirit of the occasion.

* Tickets and more details are available from the Robin 2 by logging on to www.therobin. co.uk and tickets cost £10 in advance or £12 on the door.
