Hunters rally for Air Ambulance

Dec 21 2006

Jacky Allen, left, and huntsman Peter Astle present cash to Jenny Ashman of the Air Ambulance.

KIND-HEARTED rural folk received special thanks from County Air Ambulance staff after raising more than £6,000 for the life-saving charity.

Members of the Countryside Sports Appeal handed over the money after holding a series of fundraising events throughout the year.

Well-wishers gathered at Ragley Hall, in Alcester, to present the cheque.

They received a personal acknowledgement from the Country's helicopter crew, who flew by to say thanks.

The cash was raised by fox-hunting groups from across the area.

Members of the Croome and West Warwickshire hunting club, the Cotswolds Hunt Pack and the West Warwickshire Pony Club were joined by the Marquis and Marchioness of Hertford, who live at the historic home, for special fundraising day.

Also in attendance were hunt staff, a huntsman, a whip, masters, followers and foot followers.

The day was organised by Jacky Allen, who founded the Countryside Sports Appeal in 1995.

She said: "It was a fantastic day, there was an amazing crowd of people."
