Rhydian tipped for X Factor crown

Nov 5 2007

Rhydian Roberts of X Factor.

BIRMINGHAM'S X FACTOR finalist, Rhydian Roberts was today tipped to win - as it was revealed he was booted out of the BBC's Any Dream Will Do because his singing was not up to scratch.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes revealed that Welshman Rhydian, who has lived in Edgbaston for the last six years, is favourite to win the ITV talent at 13/8.

A national newspaper yesterday claimed the 25-year-old opera singer failed to impress Andrew Lloyd Webber when he earlier auditioned for Any Dream Will Do - which searched for the next star of the musical Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Rhydian's former coach, Melissa O'Donnell said: "I was surprised he didn't so better in Any Dream Will Do.

"He belongs in musicals.

"X Factor is more about pop and Rhydian is a high drama act - he doesn't do subtle.

"He is a genuinely caring person and brashness is a big front to hide his insecurities.

"He has an amazing talent and he does deserve to win."
