KARREN Brady today dismissed the views of council leader Mike Whitby and MP John Hemming about Birmingham's chances of clinching the super-casino bid.
She said: "What Coun Whitby has said is not the case. If the Government had decided to give the bid to Blackpool it would have made an announcement. That would not have come from Mr Whitby.
"We know that Blackpool has a good needs case for winning the bid, but then so does Birmingham.
"Saltley is one the worst areas of deprivation and has the worst level of unemployment in the country, much worse than the site in Blackpool.
"Everybody in Birmingham has got to believe that Birmingham can win this bid, whether it is at the NEC or in Saltley. He may have thrown in the towel, but we have not.
