New network group for women

Sep 12 2006

A CANNOCK businesswoman recently named as the UK's most exceptional working mum is setting up a networking group, designed especially for fellow women in business.

Carol Garrington of Gailey-based Passionate Media, who won the national title from online magazine Mother@Work at a London awards ceremony earlier this year, is co-founder of Wings - Women's Independent Networking Groups.

Alongside Carmen MacDougall, of CMA Coaching and Training, she set up a group in Cannock in 2004, offering support and networking opportunities that take into consideration the busy lifestyle of business women.

After just two years, Wings has become so popular members are setting up groups in Walsall, Leicester, Tamworth and Stoke. Ms Garrington will take the helm at Walsall with meetings arranged at The Village Hotel.

"Women in business often face very different challenges to men, especially if they're working around children," she said.

"Other networking groups often meet either early in the morning or in the evening, which can prove difficult for women with other commitments. We meet in the day, at a time when we hope busy women can make it."

Wings is open to everyone but especially the professions.
