Soccer star David Beckham has helped a fund-raising campaign in the Black Country to reach its goal.
Beckham - and his wife Victoria - have secretly donated £12,500 for a hospital skin cancer scanner.
The couples generosity has been revealed by mum-of-two Jacqui Davies, who vowed to raise £20,000 for the vitally-needed equipment after being struck down with the disease.
Jacqui, 51, of Amblecote, Stourbridge, wrote to Posh and Becks to tell them about her appeal - and seek a contribution.
I know they support childrens charities and I had a good feeling, so I wrote to them, she said. I couldnt believe it when I got a call from Victorias mum, Jackie Adams.
She had read my letter to Victoria and it obviously struck a chord with her. Im extremely grateful to the Beckhams.
Jacqui launched her appeal last August after she was diagnosed as having a malignant melanoma on her back. The devastating news came less than 12 months after she was found to have breast cancer.
Jacqui vowed to raise £20,000 to buy a skin cancer scanner for Wordsley Hospital, Stourbridge, because of the excellent treatment she received there.
Her fund-raising has been so successful that she has raised £40,000 - enough for two scanners.
One will now be bought for the hospital and the other for use in the community.
