ASTON Villa have dropped their asking price for wantaway goalkeeper Stefan Postma.
But it is unlikely that the Dutchman will be leaving Villa Park with the transfer window due to close tomorrow.
It is widely believed that the club were eager to recoup the £1 million they paid for the 28-year-old when they signed him from De Graafschap twoanda-half years ago. However, after " cooperative" talks with his agent this week, it is understood that Villa are ready to accept a lower price for his services having previously threatened to invoke a little-known UEFA ruling.
"Aston Villa are being much more realistic and cooperative about the whole situation but no club has put a bid in for him so far," said his agent Piet Buter.
"I was there on Tuesday and talked to some people and everyone understands Stefan's position but they want to have the money for him."
Buter does not expect Postma to be leaving Villa Park in a hurry after the club turned down two loan inquires for his services, leaving the 'keeper's future on hold until the summer.
"I don't think anything will happen because a Spanish club and a Championship club both wanted to take him on loan but Villa turned them down," he said.
"It's seems they don't want to send him out on loan. I think he needs to move because it would be good for his development to be a better 'keeper. "At the moment he is more or less standing still and everyone wants to develop.
"But if nothing happens by Tuesday it's just a case of accepting it, clearing his head, focusing on the rest of the season and doing a professional job."
