Many people dream about becoming a teacher, but think that they can't.
Often this is because current work commitments mean they do not have the time, or they may have to look after children.
Maybe it is simply because they don't want to study on a full-time basis.
Perhaps you've retired early and are looking for a new challenge, or a change of career.
The new, flexible Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PCGE) course at the University of Wolverhampton is designed for those who, for whatever reason, can't attend a full-time, universitybased course.
The course offers you the chance to study as much or as little as you need to become a teacher, based on your previous experience.
You'll have an individual training plan that will set out your study modules, study times and your time spent in school, allowing you to gain valuable teaching experience. Most of your studying will be done at home, using study packs and on-line information.
You'll attend the University's Walsall Campus from time to time to meet your tutor and other flexi-students.
The flexible PGCE starts in April 2004 and you will be able to choose from one of the following secondary subjects: business education; design and technology (materials technology and electronic and communications technologies); information communication technology; mathematics; modern foreign languages (two from French, German and Spanish); science.
To join the course you will need a first degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, as well as GCSE or equivalent in mathematics and English.
