Alanis Morissette, Carling Academy, Birmingham

Jun 20 2008

By Adrian Caffery, Birmingham Mail

Alanis Morissette

THE Canadian rocker was happy to wallow in former glories during this 90-minute gig.

Alanis performed no fewer than seven songs from her mega-selling 1995 debut album Jagged Little Pill.

She led the capacity crowd on a mass sing-along of old favourites including Hand In My Pocket, Head Over Feet and Ironic.

In comparison, only a handful of songs from her new album, the trip hop-tinged Flavors of Entanglement, got an airing.

Alanis began the show by reclaiming one of her finest tracks, Uninvited, which was big hit earlier this year for Freemasons.

Her mesmerising voice - always just the right side of shouting - was brilliantly showcased during concert closer Thank You.
