DJ Norman at city centre roller disco

Jun 20 2008

Birmingham Mail

HOT Chip, Zero 7 and legendary DJ Norman Jay are among the acts lined up to appear at this year's Skate Almighty event in Birmingham's Centenary Square.

The Skate Almighty roller disco, on July 18, 19 and 20, is part of Nokia's 'Music Almighty' campaign, celebrating the UK's love of music.

Each event will feature a DJ/band performance stage central to the roller disco. Skaters will weave between giant glitter-ball trees and statues paying homage to five different styles of music: pop, rock, hip hop, electronica and classic anthems.

The rink will be open to children and families during the day, encouraging even the youngest to have fun and stay fit.

To secure a free ticket and one-hour skate time slot log on to www.nokia.co.uk/skatealmighty.

Tickets will be sent to the user's mobile phone number before the event, with skaters needing to swipe their handset to get onto the rink.
